Antique Fireplaces are fireplaces that we salvage and return them to there former glory and resell them for customers to fit in there homes. They are stripped down tiles removed and cleaned then grit blasted to remove any paint or contamination to the metal they are then coated with a heatproof undercoat and finished with black lead grate polish.

All spare parts can be supplied if they are missing to return your fireplace to its near original condition we offer shelves bars hoods and grates to fit most cast fireplaces and our range of reproduction fireplace tiles are the best around. We can match in the new parts by our skilled craftsman and even weld up cracks and broken parts to complete the fireplace before the item is repainted and finished. There's no better feeling seeing your original fireplace restored and returned to its original condition.

We also retail reproduction fireplaces which many are designed on original antique fireplace designs from the gallery range and once installed really look the part and we also retail the JIG range too which are authentic copy's made the same way and cast on original designs so in effect you are getting a true copy from an original cast its like having a new old fireplace.

This is the cheapest option as repairing and replacing missing parts often works out more expensive than having a new fireplace.

Since Cast iron was produced approx 500 years ago it has been used in the manufacture of fireplaces Casting iron was perfected by Abraham Darby in the Early 1700s and since then have been used for making fireplaces. From its original design of a register grate which were basically a set of bars with a fire behind them set on a grate and often included a hob for heating a small kettle. Things moved on the register grates were replaced and the Georgian era found new ideas with large ornate designs in cast iron matched with large Marble Surrounds were the normal for grand Houses.

Antique fireplaces from this era are very rare and exist mainly in Stately homes and large grand houses.

We today do reproduce some of the grander designs in cast iron such as the Gloucester and the Fitzwilliam coupled with our Carrara Marble surrounds they are of the Grand Stature to fit in any large house some 63" wide the fireplace becomes the imposing feature an Antique fireplace should be when grand statement is required.

Victorian fireplaces are the most bought reproduction of original fireplaces as they were mass produced most people think of an antique fireplace having tiles and a painted surround these days they are left waxed to achieve the look in more modern houses all our gallery fireplace are taken from original designs so whatever era you want your fireplace to come from we have a reproduction fireplace for you.
