With the range of gallery fireplaces we sell whether they be arched or tiled we offer a gas fire to go with these fireplace packages it doesnt matter which fireplace you choose we will have a gas fire to fit it.
Now on our website in the fireplace packages we offer two types of mains gas fires called own brand and nuflame gas fires, they will both work in Class 1 and Class 2 chimneys and the only difference is the Nuflame fire is slightly better built and is made from thicker plate steel.
Now we do get asked from time to time as whether we can supply a remote controlled fire for these fireplaces and whilst not offfered on our website the answer is yes.
We can have made a remoe controlled Nuflame fire which are im afraid very expensive adding around £400 to the fireplace package, we have been in contact with our manufacturer who makes our own brand gas fires for us.
He has been telling me he has managed to do deals with a remote controlled valve supplier and these should be ready around March time and are far more realalistic in price adding around £150 to the package price.
So we should be taking some of these into stock in the near future and they will be listed on our fireplace packages as soon as they are available.
Ideal for people who struggle to get down to switch on the pilot lights or for those of you who are to lazy as well and with the pilot light being remote controlled too they will not burn away your hard earned money ill tell you more when they arrive.

Can i have a gas fireplace that heats a room
Sunday, November 6th, 2011As some of us when choosing a new fireplace or stove the decision as to whther the fireplace will give off enough heat to warm a room is a main decision.
If you using a real fire or what we in the trade call solid fuel you can rest assured that any fireplace we sell will heat most rooms as a min heat source.
When using for gas use most of our arches and tiled fireplaces have what is a called a living flame fire these have a heat output of around 2kw – 2.5 kw which will not heat a room of its own accord but will add secondary heat or take the chill off.
We also supply H/E Has fires which are higher efficency but these take a little away from the looks of a traditional fireplaces as they all have black hood plates but offer heat outputs of around 4kw.
This alone will heat most rooms and can be fitted with our more traditional fireplaces, so if you require a traditional arched or tiled fireplace but also require a gas fire thta will heat the room download one of our brochures which are on the front page of our website.
We can then run through the options for you but bear in mind most of these are non internet sales items so you will have to come to our showroom.
Lastly id like to wish my son Jaiden a happy 7th Birthday today and hope you have enjoyed a great day
Dont throw away your gas fireplace instructions
Saturday, September 17th, 2011Whether you buy your fireplace or gas stove from castfireplaces or whether you choose another online retailer a little bit of advice for you regarding instructions.
They are to be kept do not let your fitter take them away with him or discard them in the rubbish after the fireplace has been fitted.
In particular for the gas fireplaces we supply is the coal pattern layout which when your Gas safe registered installer comes to service your gas fire he will need these instructions for some technial details and also to relay your coals, logs or peblles in the pattern there supposed to be.
I know they look random but there is a particular laying pattern for these coals to ensure your fireplace burns to its best abilty and also so it offers you the customer a realsitic focal point.
Also contained in these instructions is how to operate the gas fire and information regarding how it works, we do have numerous calls from previous customers asking if they can obtain a copy of these instructions as they have lost them.
luckily we do have a PDF of the Nuflame Brand we supply and are just in the process of gettting our Own brand gas fire instructions onto PDF too.
So if you have ordered a fireplace from Castfireplaces and you have lost your instructions we normally can help so give us a call and we can see what we can do for you.
Gas fireplaces are really popular this week
Friday, August 5th, 2011Here at castfireplaces with all the fireplaces packages we sell we do offer the option of a gas fire as well as solid fuel.
Recently with the current prices rises and price in general solid fuel has become the number one choice for our customers or so i thought.
Well this week has seen a huge amount of gas fireplaces ordered via our website and over the phone, we have had to order more gas inserts into stock as this came as a surprise.
Also it has left us low on levels of Granite for gas use which are also on order for next week.
So im not sure whether this is just a sales blip or are Gas Fireplaces on the rise again after the last few years of them being overtaken by solid fuel.
The gas fire we are offering are also becoming more efficient with the new Gallery range of H/E gas fires it has given a new dimension to them being a main heating source and not just decorative which of course being more efficient our customers will prefer that too.
So we will not run out of gas inserts and have our suppliers chasing granite here there and everywhere to ensure we have enough till the heating season starts and there winter stock starts arriving in Bulk.
Why choose a gas fireplace
Sunday, July 24th, 2011Folllowing on form yesterdays post we go into why a gas fireplace is a good choice for the heating of your home.
Gas fireplaces have been around for quite a while now but i must admit the majority of gas fireplaces we sell these days are more for decorative use than as a main heat source.
We do offer a range of gas fires that have good heat outputs and are suitable for heating a room as its main heat source but with alot of our fireplaces they are also designed to be decorative.
Most decorative fires give off 2-2.5 kw of heat which is like having 2 bars of an old electric fire whilst it will take the chill off the room its not enough to heat it of its own accord.
Gallery have also introduced a range of Higher Efficiency Fires which have a heat output of 3.5Kw so do offer a better heating source
So the benefits of gas are
Instant heat as soon as they are switched on
No mess to clear up after use
Very realistic as the coals glow and are living flame design
We can offer high output fires with various cast for primary heat source
The drawbacks to gas are the running costs with energy prices spiralling its only going to get worse
They need to be tested and serviced each year which is around £45
More expensive installation cost
So all our fireplace packages come with the choice of gas use so we do really have alrage range of gas fireplaces
What is a decorative living flame gas fire
Monday, April 4th, 2011A question asked this morning by one of our customers as to exactly what a living flame gas fire as and more importantly to them are they realistic.
The Gallery range of Fireplaces we supply do have the option in all of our Fireplace Packages to choose gas fires as an option.
Also available on the individual fireplaces is an option to choose a gas fire
Except for the Modern Fireplaces suites section these are all living flame gas fires and are for decorative use more than a main heating appliance.
DGF fires which means decorative gas fires have a heat output of around 2.2kw so you will get some heat off it but not enough to heat any room of its own accord.
The main feature of these gas fires is for decorative purposes only and i must admit they are very realistic, when they have fully warmed up all the fibre coals glow and the flames will move around like a traditional wood burning fire without the smell and crackling though.
These particular gas trays have been designed for the Gallery range of fireplaces and work very well with them available in both mains gas and LPG (bottled gas) they have to have a real chimney or flue to expel the fumes.
Class 1 fires are chimney greater than 7″ in diameter and designed for solid fuel use
Class 2 fires can work on 5″ flexible gas liners and chimney less than 7″ but more than 5″ in diameter.
Most of the Decorative gas fires we supply will work in both flue types so if i have confused you about this just contact me if unsure.
So hope that makes a little more sense into exactly what they are and if you were to see one working im pretty sure you would agree they are very realsitic and offer a fantstic alternative to solid fuel use for a no mess fireplace.
Make sure you have correct flue for your fireplace
Wednesday, March 16th, 2011Following on from a converstaion i was having with someone this morning enquiring about LPG gas fires and what type of flues they require i thought i would add a few comments on the matter.
For most of our Cast iron fireplaces we can supply a liquid petroleum gas fire or lpg fire as its more commonly known, for those of you still in doubt it is a fire that runs on bottled gas the type you use in Caravans etc.
Not everyone especially right out in the countryside or middle of nowhere has mains gas so they have to use bottled gas or have a tank filled for their gas requirements.
So we deal with a company that supplies LPG gas fires for all our fireplace range and they look exactly the same as the standard living flame fires.
So the only difference is these fires require a Class 1 chimney to vent them correctly which must be a minimum of 7″ in Diameter.
If you do not have this type of lue system the gas fire will not work correctly as it can not draw the fumes properley and should not be connected to anything less than this.
So the customer we were speaking too had a 5″ or 6″ twin walled system which had been used for oil use which im afraid is not going to be any use for the LPG gas fire they require.
So he has gone of to measure exactly what he requires as the price of oil has risen so much he has switched to lpg gas in a bid to cut his fuel bills.
If it was me i would have opted for solid fuel fire but he says he does not like the mess and cant be bothered to make a fire every time he wants to put the fire on.
So just make sure when ordering an LPG fire you do hgave the correct flus as it will not work on standard 5″ gas liner and no fitter will connect it to that so just make a little note to make sure everything is correct before purchasing
Do you gas fires for Cast fireplaces require power supply
Saturday, March 5th, 2011As part of the gallery range of Fireplaces and stoves we sell on our website we offer two types of gas inserts one is an own brand fire and the other is a Nuflame Gas fire.
Both have the same heat output but to be hones t the Nuflame fire is of better quality and produces a better flame pattern hence the £30 price difference.
So how do they they work and do they need a power supply.
First off you will be glad to know thyey do not require any type of power supply to ignite them so there is no need for electrical socket anywhere near the fireplace.
They are started by a Piezo strater and the gas fire has three setting, Pilot Light, Low Flame, High Flame.
That is it really very few parts to go wrong and they are a living flame fire where the flame dances amongst the fuel bed and the colas supplied glow and infact they are pretty realsitic.
As for heat outputs they are designed as a decorative flame effect fire and are not designed to provide a main souce of heat, they will add secondary heat of around 2kw but thats all.
So if you need any more information abou our gas fires or indeed fireplaces just give us a shout
Gallery High Effeciency fireplaces to be sold in our Showroom
Thursday, March 3rd, 2011In the purple gallery brochure for 2010-2011 it list a range of HE gas fires for the Jubilee and Lytton Arched fireplaces and also the new Pembroke Highlighted HE gas fire too.
These products at the moment are not for sale on the interent or indeed even to be marketed on there they are solely for shops to sell in the showrooms.
Now im not 100% sure why this has been done but i have a good idea its to keep the fireplace highstreet shops happy, anyway thats old news im more than happy to obey these rules whether or not i agree with them.
So as we have had new showroom built to our design we have decided to incorporate after a visit from Adam one of these fireplaces as a live display with the power flue so it can be seen working and customers visiting our showroom have the option to buy them.
They are quite expensive and come with manual and remote controlled options and also a choice of whether they have glass fronts or are just an open fronted convector fire.
With the design of these fireplaces it does detract from the original victorian design of the fireplaces due to the black hood plate but also on the other hand offers a great gas heating alternative from an otherwise traditional looking fire.
Im afraid we can not list prices on here too as we have agreed not to but anyone visiting our showroom will soon be able to view one there.
