Ok im no Poirot or indeed Miss Marple but on going to the workshop this morning i noticed a few of our 54″ Corbel Limestone mantels missing.
This was when i was loading one of our vans for tomorrows North Wales and North West run and was loading a Brompton limestone on to the forklift.
My Heart sank as i realised what i had done, ok time for you all to laugh i have sent out two 54″ Corbel Limestone Mantels to two customers instead of 54″ Bromptons.
On my return to the office i got out all the weekends delivery notes to try and track down where they have gone and to whom.
Anyway i have narrowed it down to 3 Customers one in SW20 and one in Darlington and Wakefield from Wednesdays delivery.
Phonecalls have been made and im pleased to have located one of them in Darlington im really kind of hoping the other is in Wakefield and not Wimbledon as i can then simply swap them both over on Friday.
The customer in Wimbledon actually said if he likes the mantle he is not really bothered about it which made me smile he is at work but is checking when he gets home.
Now who can i blame for this error then well im afraid it can only be me i stacked them in the wrong place and i indeed loaded them onto the van.
Im very mad with myself as this is the first time in 6 years ive got it wrong and is quite embarrasing for us, but the customer in Darlington is not worried and as soon as i locate the final missing mantel all will be sorted out.
So as you can see even the best companies make mistakes but it will be sorted out as quick as we can and also at our cost and ill make sure it does not happen again.

Customer coming to collect Fireplace from Plymouth
Monday, August 30th, 2010Back at work again tomorrow after a nice Bank Holiday Monday off and ive been recovering from last nights venture out to the pub.
To be honest im only just feeling ok now.
So it has been nice just relaxing the day away and we have had a few people ring us but thats self employment for you.
One of the phonecalls was from Mrs K in Plymouth who enquired as to how long it would take for a Lytton and Brompton Limestone Fireplace package for solid fuel to be delivered.
Unfortunately for her we delivered to the South West inc Plymouth on Friday and were not going that way this week.
So after explaining this she asked if it was all in stock and if she could get someone to collect it for her Tuesday as new carpets were being fitted Friday and after decorating this weekend they decided as last change of mind to have new fireplace too.
So ten minutes later she was back on the phone saying her Dad is coming sometime Tuesday morning to collect it and then have it fitted Wednesday by her builder.
So if you are looking for a fireplace we do have loads of them in stock to take away and if we cant deliver them to you quickly enough you are always welcome to come and collect from our warehouse and showroom in Langley Mill.
Toulouse Highlighted Fireplace Package Pine Bedford to Derby
Monday, August 30th, 2010Hi Mark
Thanks so much for our beautiful fireplace. It arrived exactly when you said it would, between 9:30 and 10am! The service and value we received from you was second to none. The fireplace was cheaper than anywhere else and the mantel on the surround was customised for our smaller width chimney breast at your suggestion. I have never received such wonderful customer service from a company before. We were updated on our order and when we could expect it at all times and we couldn’t be happier. We have your recommended fitter coming to fit the fire on 18th September, and it can’t come soon enough. Thanks to your company we now have the fire we always wanted but didn’t think we’d be able to afford! I have already mentioned your company to a few friends and won’t hesitate to recomme you to more!
Thanks again

Regular maintenance for Solid Fuel Stoves and Fireplaces
Saturday, August 28th, 2010So you have your new solid fuel fireplace or stove installed the last thing on your mind is maintenance and cleaning of chimneys and flues etc.
Most of the time this is very seriously overlooked and a lot of customers do not even have the chimney swept before installing a new real fire fireplace or stove.
As most people are aware fitting of a solid fuel fuel appliance must be done by HETAS registered fitter or have it signed of by Building Control inspector from your local council.
Bizzarely after that there is no further regular maintenance required by law, in my opinion this is very shortsighted as burning solid fuel can also create carbon monoxide which is a silent killer if the fuel is not burnt correctly i have read online about a death from a blocked flue for a Kitchen Range.
There are no regulations currently that say solid fuel fires of any type must be serviced and chimneys swept once a year. It would be good to have a regime in place or guide line so people know how often to service the fireplace, flue etc they have.
I understand most people would detect a fully blocked flue but how often have you heard people say sometimes the fire blows back smoke into the room, normally there is an underlying reason for this do not leave it have it investigated by HETAS registered fitter.
As a guide chimneys should be swept once a year by a decent sweep try the NACS which has sweeps numbers all over the uk they will give you free advice as to how often you will need it cleaning depending on the fuel you are burning.
As the flue is the only source for the toxic fumes escaping make sure it is in good condition so smoke does not enter your property right through the run of the chimney if in doubt have a chimney sweep test it for you and if found to be faulty it can always be lined.
So enjoy your winter fires and as good sound advice get your chimney swept just as you start to reuse the fireplace after the Summer so if you do have birds nest etc in the flue it will be removed before you light the fire.
Happy Burning and just to let you know our local sweep is cleaning my stove Thursday next week

Firefox 5, Tiger and Kooga Clean Burn Stoves new to Castfireplaces
Friday, August 27th, 2010So with the addition of one DEFRA approved stove to our website last week we do have some good news about three other multifuel stoves that we will be adding to our ranks.
Two of them are slight variations on our original stoves and one is completely new.
Ladies and Gentlemen i would like to introduce you to the following
Firefox 5 Clean Burn Stove
Tiger Clean Burn Stove
Kooga Clean Burn Stove
The firefox 5 stoves are due into stock to us within two weeks the Tigers and Koogas will be slightly longer, all these have undergone testing by DEFRA so they can be used for burning wood in Smokless Zones so we really do now offer agood choice for those wishing to have solid fuel appliance in areas where you have to have DEFRA approved stove.
As you can see from the photos shown below not mush has changed with the Firefox and Tiger Stove but the Kooga is something a little different.
The stoves are slightly less effiecient than the standard modles i presume this is done to make them emit less fumes im not sure how as we do not yet have technical detailed info on them.
These stoves will be added to our website early next week so untill then check out the photos and see what you think
