Monday, September 27th, 2010

Hi Mark

Thank you to Cast Fireplaces – our fireplace is lovely and their service was brilliant. The delivery man was very hands-on and friendly and even rung the night before to check if his arrival time was still ok.
We would definately use this company again and would recommend to others. Thank you!

Weather has turned cold time to light our fireplaces and Stoves

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Ok im sat in my office tonight writing this little blog and i must admit the central heating is now on.
You can tell the weather has started to turn cold as when i was returning from taking my dog a walk early this evening i could see quite a few chimney pots with smoke coming out of them.
This really is a sure sign that inside they have a lovely roaring fire going either burning coal or logs, what better way can an evening be spent than in front of a real fire with your family around you.
Call me old fashioned or nostalgic but i really do love solid fuel and the warmth it supplies.
So our Stove is now made up ready to light and the log basket is brimming with seasoned dry ash and oak logs all ready to light at the slightest hint of the next cold weather snap.
All i need to do is to fill up our bin full of kindling ready to start the stove for the next few months of cold weather.
Our Tiger Plus stove is in for another winters hard use i hope it really does fill the house with a glow and the noise of it crackling away is fantastic, something you do not get with radiators and a combi boiler.
Im not saying i would exchange them but to have a solid fuel fireplace or stove is great and every house should have one.
With so many people returning to burning wood and coal sales are still really high and we have loads of stoves arriving again this week to replenish stock levels.
So if you wish to purchase a solid fuel fireplace or stove you are already at the best place so have alook through our website and order something to heat your home in mans most ancient form of heating Fire there really is nothing like it.

Firefox 5 Stove Delivered to Knockholt

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Hi Mark

Great level of service from the initial enquiry through to delivery at the precise time on a Sunday morning with the stove being wheeled in from the van to the dining room hearth. Five star service at very competitive prices !

Your company should start offering training courses in ‘customer care’ to several major companies [from my recent experience Santander, Vodafone, Thames Water, NatWest] all of whom have forgotten what really matters.

Regards

Do not be a DIY Stove Fitter

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

Today a Hetas registered fitter who we recommend in our local area has done a job for us in Belper, where they have had a serious problem last week and had the fire brigade round due to man of the house doing a DIY stove fit.
They are only in Belper and had the Tiger Stove from us last year and i hadnt heard anything from them until Thursday last week.
She rang me to say the chmney had caught fire and the fire brigade had been round and put out the fire and could i nip round to quote for replacement parts and fitting etc.
So i called round after work to see what had happened to be informed that her husband had used one of our skamolex fire resistant fireboards as a debris plate and had used wooden battens to mount it on.
Now what is the point of mounting it on wooden battens is wood not flammable i thought to myself.
Anyway it turns out that the timber battens had caught fire which then had turned into a full blown chimney fire and eventually the fire brigade were called.
Luckily there is not too much damge but she was there cleaning away when i arrived.
So she has now had fitted a metal register plate by our fitter who has tested all the installation out and refitted stove etc.
Chimney has been swept and tested and all is ok again to use.
So please do not fit the stove yourself thta is why there are laws in place to try and deter would be DIY fitters it really is not worth risking it and even worse you could end up with a chimney fire like our customer from Belper

Replacement Cast Iron Firebrick to Gilberdyke

Friday, September 24th, 2010

Hi,

We emailed you on Tuesday as we were worried that we had not received the correct firebrick, but we were impressed with your prompt response and reassurance that it was. We have yet to remove the old firebrick as Stuart is in Scotland until Tuesday but I am sure all will be well. The firebrick arrived two working days after ordering and was well packaged and undamaged. The ordering prosess was very straight forward even for ‘old dears’ like us who have had very little experience of internet purchases.

Rosemary Lister Gilberdyke 24/09/10

How to repair a chip on limestone fireplace shelf

Friday, September 24th, 2010

A customer of ours has contacted us today to ask us some advice on how to repair a very small chip on the edge of the Brompton Agean Limestone Mantel shelf as they had caught it whilst fitting it.
I asked them to send me a photo to see how bad the damage was and when it came through luckily it had the samllest chip along the front edge of the shelf.
I quickly rang them back telling them it could be simply be solved with some sandpaper and to sand the three face edges adding a new flat edge to them with a block of wood.
Ten minutes later Mr R rang back to say how pleased he was with his handiwork and that it even passed the visual inspection from his wife.
I reminded him to reseal the shelf with the lithofin limestones sealer and he proudly told me it had already been done.
So all has ended well and the limestone mantel i presume has been fitted with no further damage and again we have another very happy customer.
So please be careful when fitting your new limestone fireplace as they can be damaged easily and simple repairs are not always possible to make an invisible repair.
We are here to give you free advice and help so contact us any time

Firefox 5 Stove and Register Plate Collected Langley Mill

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

Dear Mark

I was very pleased with how quickly everything was processed from ordering to delivery/collection.

I haven’t managed to get it out of my car yet so can’t comment on anything else.

However, I was impressed with the competitive price of the stove (as I have been shopping around for quite some time) and can’t wait to get it installed.

Many thanks.

Using your Fireplace and Stove with Chimney Lining Kit

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

Fireflexmaster User Guide

Fireflexmaster flexible liner is constructed using high grade, quality assured stainless steel. With care and correct use it will provide many years of safe and reliable service – but it is important that you read and follow these instructions fully

DO Burn the correct fuel for the appliance you have got

DO Burn “seasoned” dry wood – that is split logs which have been stacked for 12 months minimum under cover outside allowing a free circulation of  fresh air

DO NOT burn any of the following : Wet or Green Wood painted or treated timber, household refuse, petrochemical by product, caol substitute as all of these can create soot deposits and gasses which are toxic and will corrode the liner.

DO sweep the chimney at twice a year more often may be necesary depending on the fuel and use. Instruct the chimney sweep that only a bristle brush of the correct diameter should be used on the rods not a ball and brush.

DO avid chimney fires as the extreme temperature involved can damge the liner.

DO NOT allow fires to slumber this produces corrosive condensation in the flue and increases the chance of chimney fires this is particularly importnat for closed appliances.

DO register the installtion by completing and posting off the card that came with your chimney lining kit

Do sit back and relax and enjoy using your solid fuel stove or fireplace on those cold winter nights
