New Fireplace Products Get Instant Orders

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Here at Cast Fireplaces we get excited when we introduce new products to our website its nice to see customers reaction to new products and great to see orders coming in for new Fireplaces we have listed. Monday was one of those days that make you feel like you have done a good job. As most of you are aware who read our Articles Section we added the Malton Surround Packages to our website on Monday and later that day at 19.30 we sold one of our Tiled Insert solid fuel package to a Mr Maloney of Wigan. I said to him on the phone when confirming order that he had been quick and that they had only been online a couple of hours he laughed and said he had only just seen it on our front page.
On the left hand side of our websites front page is the Latest item section this shows the latest 6 items we have added to our website if you click on these it will take you directly to that item. This section is always being updated as we add new content so it’s always an idea to check the front page before heading off to our online shop. This week the column will be changing hourly as we have over 60 items to add for our new range of modern surrounds and for the rest of the week’s articles I will introduce you to them so you can get a good description of them and situations they can be used in

Which Arched Fireplace for Solid Fuel Use

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Which Arched Insert Fireplace is the best for solid fuel is a question that I was asked today from a customer who visited us, that really depends on what fuel you are intending to burn and whether you want the fireplace for occasional use or if it is going to be the main heat source of that room. Another factor to take into account is the size of the chimneybreast you intend to install the Fireplace on.
For most chimney breasts in Lounges and dining rooms you can fit a 51” to 60” surround in place this normally means that the opening on the surround is around the standard size opening of 36” x 36” which will take any of our arched inserts.
The Tradition Fireplace has the largest area for burning solid fuel (wood coal etc) and can easily take a good sized log which is ideal for people wishing to burn logs as the main heat source for the room, also available is a deeper cast iron back that fits the Jubilee and the Henley making them ideal for everyday log burning fires.
For people burning coal or smaller logs and for people who only have fires when they feel in the mood any of our fireplaces will suit there needs as heat output is not the main priority just the crackling and homely glow of a real fireplace is all they require. If you need any help in choosing the perfect fire for all your needs we are here to help you make an informed decision and all our advice is given with your needs in mind.

Which Fireplace finish to choose

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

When you have decided on which Fireplace you like the style of and which one is suitable for the dimensions of the chimney breast you then need to decide the finish of the fireplace you are buying. We offer four different finishes to our fireplaces and they are as follows
BLACK
This matt black finish is ideal for use with solid fuel fires as it will not discolour and it has a heat resistant paint applied to its surface to provide many years of use.
BLACK LEADED
This is a finish we can apply to all our matt black fireplaces it is very similar to the Old “ Zebo” that grandma used to use to polish up the kitchen range and really brings out the details to the fireplace it’s simply applied by brush then polished off to create the sheen.
HIGHLIGHTED/ HALF POLISH
This process is done at manufacture and highlighting is polishing the raised features of the fireplace to enhance the detail on the cast iron. Half Polish is a band of silver that is polished silver offering an in between of highlighting and full polishing. Both are very effective and really look good we use highlighted or h/polish fireplaces for gas use mainly but they can be used for solid fuel however the area around the bars can sometimes tarnish from solid fuel use.
FULL POLISH
This is a complete polished silver finish which is basically as it says the cast iron is polished to a smooth bright finish, it adds the contemporary modern look to any traditional fireplace.
All the cast iron fireplaces we sell are available in a variety of these finishes so just look at each item to see what finish they are available in shown below are the options we offer.

Hearth options when choosing your fireplace

Friday, May 1st, 2009

When choosing your fireplace package from us at Cast Fireplaces we offer various Hearth options as part of our package prices. As standard we list the most popular Granite hearth for gas or solid fuel as standard as this is included in the base price of the package. We do offer the following hearth options for gas use

GRANITE our Standard hearth which is made from solid Granite which is in one section and is 15” deep and 50mm in height its boxed and lipped which means it has a 20mm overhang both sides and the front ideally suited for all gas fireplaces

TILED we offer the Ebony black tiled hearth as an alternative to the granite they are made from 6” x 6” black tiled hearths and are grouted with black grout in between each tile they are available from 30” to 60” in multiples of 6”. For our gas use hearths they are 15” in depth and 2.25” high

SLATE is our final option and they are of boxed and lipped construction same as the granite and are also 15” in depth they are made from Italian Slate which is quite a soft stone which is matt in colour, they do need to be cared for more than the other hearths and need oiling to maintain there looks

For Solid fuel use we don’t offer slate as its too soft and will become very tired looking with the mess from solid fuel and the scratches from cleaning away ash etc so we don’t offer it as an option for our solid fuel packages. We do offer the following

TILED made for the same tiles and done in the same way as our gas hearths the only difference being that for solid fuel they are 3 tiles deep making them 18” in depth as required by law

GRANITE these hearths are cut into sections and slabbed underneath so the hearth can expand and contract with the heat of solid fuel if this wasn’t done the hearth would crack in two when using with a real fire, there is no other way of avoiding the sectioning it just has to be done for solid fuel

If you need any advice regarding choosing the Hearth option for your fireplace please feel free to contact us for free honest advice. Below are some photos of the hearths we offer just click the photos to view.
