Hetas Gas Safety Fireplace Fitters

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

A few of our customers are becoming confused on which fitter to use when fitting a fireplace is it Corgi, Gas Safe or Hetas here I hope help to clear it up for you and explain things to make it simple.
First of we sell Fireplaces and Fireplace related materials only we don’t make furniture or doors or sell sinks bathrooms etc. As we are fireplace specialists we do have years of experience with our products. Fitters are somewhat the same its pointless having a gas registered plumber to try and fit a fireplace for you as they probably only do 1 a year and don’t have the knowledge to fit them, im not saying they are not qualified but your better off with someone who just fits fireplaces.
Around the Whole Midlands and Yorkshire area we use a fitter who does a lot of work for us who charges around £250-£350 for fitting he is self employed his work is 1st class and I have had my own fireplaces installed by him you are more than welcome to have his number to arrange your fireplace to be fitted by him.

Fireplaces for Gas Use
CORGI is no more it has been replaced by the GAS SAFE REGISTER and all the fitters you use must have the relevant certificate and card which will tell you what appliances he can install.

Fireplace for Solid fuel use
HETAS covers this option and again please check cards and certificates to make sure they are qualified to fit your fireplace.

We do have numerous fitters details for a lot of the Uk and have dealt with most for a few years now and have made calls to customers who have used them and even seen work done by them when we have supplied second fireplaces to some houses so we can truly recommend there work. Some of the fitters we use are customers of ours too as they have found we really do offer trade beating prices and supply our fireplaces to there own customers. If you are in doubt just contact us to make sure you book the right fitter for the Job.

Gas Safety Register Replaces Corgi Check Your Fireplace Fitters

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

The Gas Safe Register came into effect on 1st April 2009. There is now no such thing as being “CORGI registered”. All Fireplace fitters and installers wishing to carry out gas work must be registered with “Gas Safe Register”.This follows a complete review by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) into how the existing CORGI provisions was working.

The result is that the ‘Gas Safety Register’ has now been set up and as from April 1st 2009 “CORGI” will no longer be relevant.

In the past, customers would have used Corgi registered fireplace fitters now please make sure your fitter has the relevant cards and is registered with the Gas Safety Registar to allow them to carry out your fireplace installation when using it for gas use. For solid Fuel HETAS is still in use with no change to there governing body.

Every engineer will carry a Gas Safe Register ID card with their own unique licence number, showing the type of gas work they are qualified to do. Before any gas work is carried out, always make sure you ask to see their Gas Safe Register ID card.
