Monday, October 19th, 2009

So i said i was going to return to our customer gallery feature and show you a few of our range of Gallery Fireplaces and Stoves that previous customers of ours have fitted in their own homes.
I did a little blog about this particular stove before because when i had got home from delivering it in the morning i had on my pc an email from the Customer

Mark Adams.
Hi
I recently purchased a Firefox stove from you which was burning within 3 hours of delivery.
We are very pleased with it and more importantly we were very impressed that it arrived when you said it would and that it was delivered right to the Hearth!
Thank you for your reliability

Now that is impressive by any imagination they were enjoying a nice fire in a stove i had only just delivered before i had even arrived home also attached to the email was a picture of  Firefox 8 Multifuel stove with ash in it.

I think that is quite amusing no sooner had i delivered onto the hearth in the friont room and driven off were they there unboxing it an connecting it up to use so i thought i will add this picure of this to our customer gallery to see if it gives anyone inspiration to try and beat this installation time im pretty sure it will be a hard act to follow so have a look at this Firefox 8 stove heating up Jennys house 3 hours after delivery

Where are all these Fireplaces and Stoves going to Fit

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Yet more Multi fuel stoves have arrived yesterday (Wednesday) and we have had more arrive on Tuesday this week, stock seems to be coming and going at an alarming rate not that I am complaining. Our Factory is groaning at the seams and 1700 sq ft is a lot to fill with fireplaces we even have more items in stock now than some of our suppliers during this busy time of year.
We continue to keep our supply times to within ten days as we have increased all our fireplace stocks to keep up with demand.
Timber mantels have been arriving from the workshop daily in vanloads and we are now well ahead on manufacture time to keep our stocks high.
This also is coupled with two new oak design timber fireplaces that will be going on our website as soon as I can get some time to add them.
They look absolutely fantastic and are sure to big sellers over the next few months and we will be listing them as packages and on there own to buy too so please keep checking back.
As with all our Timber Surrounds we can manufacture to any size to suit your requirements.
Stu who does a lot of our fireplace deliveries is also very good at website design and pc admin work and is doing work now on our website alongside our design company to get this update ready for going live wait till you see what we have done it works great and we are just ironing out the small creases for it to go live as most items are being listed manually its very time consuming but it will not happen again I am assured.
Anyway that’s the boring bit out the way still no sign of the new arrival in our family (Stuart and Theas 1st Baby) so I am on long distance deliveries again today in Devon and The South West so Rhian is in charge of office and all orders I’m just the delivery man but that’s the most important part of our job and I love meeting our customers so if you do get me on your delivery do not tempt with tea biscuits or cakes as I may stop for ages chatting plus I’m on a diet too must keep up the hard work.

Gallery Fireplaces Firefox 8 Multi Fuel stove fitted 3 hours after delivery

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

I have been out delivering Fireplaces this morning to Hampshire, Salisbury, London and Bedfordshire and I returned back at 2.30 pm to meet a customer at the workshop who wanted to swap some Tiles as he wasn’t sure about the colour of the tiles and wanted another set.
He came from Shepshed, which is only 25 miles from our factory, and I met him there and showed him alternatives, which he went away with another set saying how pleased he was with our service.
I saw another two customers and we had one appointment who did not appear and my builder mate who collected the stove right on time said I looked tired I replied its your fault making me work later on a Sunday. He smiled and gave me a pat on the back and said go home and get to bed (I wish I could).
So when I Got back to the office and had this email I could not believe it

Jenny

Now that is from Mrs Briggs in Salisbury who we delivered the stove to this morning at 9am they even had it fitted and running before id even got to drop number 5 in Harpenden at 12.30.
They must have unpacked it and started the minute I left the house I have never had anybody reply saying they had it working before I had even got home.
Emails and comments like that always make us feel special that we have done our best and we have delivered yet again a great service word of mouth is one of our best forms of advertising and certainly the cheapest so we want you to be happy with the goods and service we offer if not please inform us and we can do something about it and we take all comments whether good or bad very seriously.

What solid fuel can i burn on my Stove or Fireplace

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

There are many different types of solid fuel on the market for you to burn in your Stoves or Fireplaces and here we are going to explain some of the fuels you are likely to encounter when looking to buy such Products whether online or from a high street shop

Coal

The most popular choice of fuel for burning in fireplaces and stoves around the UK the main product you will find is called House coal. It is a Bituminous (non smokeless) coal, which cannot be burnt in smokeless areas.
It is available in three sizes
Doubles are the normal grade that is around the size of a golf ball
Trebles are larger than doubles and tend to be about the size of an apple
Cobbles are the largest of the house coals and are normally only used for large open fires

Anthracite

Ideal for glass fronted stoves it is very hard and dense and offers good heat and burning times and is also classed as smokeless

Wood

Very popular again due to the prices of other solid fuels as most companies offer trailer loads from around £80. This is normally supplied as a mixed load of hard and softwood. The only drawback to wood as a heat source is that it has to be dry to get the best use from it so make sure its stored correctly before use

Paper Bricks

With the rise in solid fuel prices a few of our customers have told us how they make paper bricks from waste newspaper with a paper press I have heard mixed results with some saying they were great and others saying they took too long to make and then burnt away to fast so without experience of these myself its hard to say but it is a very green option.

Green Logs

Manufactured into brick size blocks these “ Green Logs” are made from rapeseed oil plants and comes from the crushing process when extracting the oil I have tried a few of these logs given to me by a customer who bought a stove from us. I must say they were difficult to light but when going lasted longer than wood and im sure gave off heat slightly warmer the only downside is they are expensive but they stack well and don’t need any drying anybody interested in this fuel contact me and I will point them in the right direction to try them

There other options of solid fuel on the market such as Coke, Peat, etc but they are not widely used so just google search them for further info on burning these items and remember when burning solid fuel have your chimney swept on a regular basis.

How do i calculate what size Stove in need to Heat Room

Friday, July 17th, 2009

We often get asked as to which size Stove to use in a particular size room.
Here at Cast and Pine Direct we offer a good range of stoves with heat outputs varying from 5KW to 12 KW so we are pretty sure we will have a model for you whether you want is as the main heat source for the room or just as a secondary heat to light on a cold night.
They come in various sizes too so this must be taken into account plus the clearance around required around the sides of the stove which is normally 75mm to 100mm.
All the stoves we do have a controllable output to regulate the heat produced so bearing all this in mind it then comes down to the size of output stove to heat the room.
In our guides section we have a formula that will explain how to do this so click on this link What size KW multi fuel stove for my room and follow the simple guide to explain how to do this.
Its very simple to do and will give you a good idea of what size stove output you need all then you need to do is to match it too a stove you like than sit back and relax knowing that you have chosen the right size item to heat exactly what you want it heat.
It is always better to choose a higher output stove than you need so it is not always running at full capacity and as you can regulate the heat output you would find this of benefit to your fuel consumption too
As always if you need any help or advice or want us to work it out for you just contact us by email or phone.

Firefox 5 Gallery Multi Fuel Stove Feature

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

The Best selling stove of the Month this month is again the Tiger Plus Stove (mainly due to two orders of four stoves for a development company) and as we featured it last month we have decided to opt for the second best seller which is the Firefox 5 Multi Fuel Stove. This Little Stove really offers a serious heat output of up to 5KW,this comes from a stove that is only 410mm wide 370mm deep and 544mm high. There is not much on the market to match this output from the same size and at £280 it is a real bargain.
The firefox 5 is capable of heating a room 16ft x 12ft and of normal ceiling height with average insulation burning logs so as you can see you don’t need a huge fireplace opening to fit a stove in even to warm a fair size room.
If you wish to work out how many kilowatts you need to heat a room take a look at Stove Output Calculator and this will tell you all the things you need to measure to get accurate KW rating to heat that room.
The fire fox 5 stove can be flued from the top or the rear and has a 5” flue outlet there are 79% efficient and are truly multi-fuel burning Wood, Coal, Logs, Coke etc they also come with controllable airwash and adjustable air intake to regulate output. If you wish to buy this months featured stove just click on photo below

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Here at Castfireplaces we also sell Stoves as well as Fireplaces. We sell the Gallery range of stoves in Gas and multifuel versions which brings me to April’s best selling stove and this month it is the Tiger Plus Multi Fuel Stove This stove has been sold by us for a few years now and is brilliant value for money at £325 it comes with features that are normally associated with more expensive models.
The Tiger Plus is a 100% British designed stove by Glynn Hughes Design and is registered at the UK patent office; it is assembled in China from parts made in the UK, USA, Japan and China. It carries a one year warranty and a full range of spares are available should any be needed over time.
The Tiger plus has been CE passed and conforms to EN13240 standards. It is made from Cast Iron has a controllable air wash system and has brick lining these features are standard with this stove. The output of the Tiger Plus stove is variable from 2 Kw -6.2 Kw and is 78% efficient.
The stove can be flued from the top or the rear and the flue diameter is 6”, it comes complete with Black or chrome handles and with a heat resistant glove so no more burnt fingers. Tiger plus can be fitted with American cook top or the log store to alter the look of this versatile stove. I know with the sun shining stoves are the last things on peoples mind but over the last two winters we have had real problems keeping up with demand so it makes summer time an ideal time to install a new multi fuel stove.
