Can we do made to measure Granite Hearths

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Hi all another busy day again with deliveries to Torquay and Middlesborough two vans though not 1 big run ive had the easy Middlesborough run Stuart has been to Torquay and worked his way home with seven drops i only had four.
Anyway when i got back to the office i answered a few made to measure Hearth emails which we do have quite frequently infact now every other day but there were four of them wanting prices within a couple of hours which is very unusual.
All of them were for solid fuel ranging from a small sectional hearth for a multi fuel stove to sit on to a large 64″ x 18″ hearth for an original marble surround.
Anway all of them have been emailed back with prices and manufacture times and writing this at 20.25 we have had an order all ready for a box flusehed hearth.
Thats the joy of made to measure items and indeed hearths you dont have to put up with standard hearth not covering the constructional hearth or where existing flooring has been laid up to a hearth you are replacing you can have what you want in any size you want.
Also if you are buying a fireplace package from us and require a made to measure hearth do not worry we can still supply made to measure at the additional price to the package saving you a fortune.
So if you do want made to measure hearth just visit our Contact page and send us an email.

Where has this week gone in my world of Fireplaces

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Well i can not believe it is Friday again it has been none stop all week which started with our new Fireplace Website going live on monday and with the few hiccups we had that was most of Tuesday and Wednesday gone, Thursday was gone too fast and today i have been delivering in York and Nottingham whilst Stu has been on Bristol Gloucs and Birmingham run.
We have loaded vans for this Sundays london runs and im now sat in my office at 8.30 pm writing this blog after finishing all the delivery notes.
Time always flys when you are busy but this week has been a blur.
Had an early evening visit from Adam our Rep bringing me some more images we have done with various arched and tiled inserts with a variety of different surrounds we have made all these will start to be added next week so again i have a busy week without even starting our day to day running of the business.
Thank god im off Saturday for a little break with my son Jaiden and a few of my mates to watch Forest, also we are meeting Adam there for a beer too and im sure a few of the other Fireplace Lads it really makes a good day out.
So not much will happen to our website over the weekend but keep your eyes out next week for some new categories and many many new Fireplaces and even a few Stoves

Do we sell Spares for original Victorian Fireplace

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Do we stock spares for an original fireplace was a question I was first asked by a customer this morning who had left a message on our answering machine we start at 8AM in the morning in the week and at 9AM at the weekends so to have message earlier than this is unusual, anyway I rang them back to find out what they were after as we do have a work copy of the spares brochure listing all the spare parts we offer from bar sets to hoods and simple ash pans to cast iron replacement mantels all available for the range of fireplaces we sell and replacement parts to suit originals too.
After sending me an email with some images and sizes on I soon found the items they were missing.
This particular fireplace was simple to sort out as it was only missing a set of bars and a set of Tiles and was I must say a bargain at the £145 they had paid for it at a salvage auction.
The bars we had in stock from a Galway Fireplace that I somehow let fall over in our workshop damaging it beyond repair and the tiles they choose were from our website and were the Jazz Ivory Lilac which we also keep in stock so they have all been wrapped and sent by next Day delivery to a very happy customer.
In most cases we can supply Replacement parts for original fireplaces so just email us or contact us and we can see if we can order the parts to restore you Victorian or Other fireplace to its former Glory.
So another thing explained you were not perhaps aware of what we do here at Cast and Pine Direct we do try to go that extra bit more to make sure we offer service second to none

Black Tiled Insert and Pine Bedford Fireplace makes our gallery section

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Claire Cox from Dudley contacted Cast Fireplaces via our easy to use Website to supply a tiled insert and surround package for gas use.
The order was placed on the 7th June and was delivered the following week
The item she order was the Black Tiled Insert and Pine Bedford Gas Package they chose the 48” Pine Bedford Mantel with the Haslingden Burgundy Ivory Tiles.
This item has now been installed and a photograph was sent to us on the 29th June.
The Tulip Black cast iron fireplace insert is one of our best selling tiled inserts second only to the Toulouse. It has a decorative hood with the tulip pattern on it (hence the name) and comes complete with a set of art Nouveau bars and ash pan cover
The Haslingden tiles they have chosen compliment the fireplace very well and the choice of the 48” pine Bedford Mantel fits the chimneybreast perfectly and makes a great feature.
If you to wish to order this feature set just click the link above or click or on the photo shown below of this fireplace fitted in place and I’m sure you will agree it makes a very nice feature and a real bargain at £610 and is also one of the best selling wooden packages we sell.

Fireplace Tiles for our Cast Iron Inserts

Monday, June 29th, 2009

When fitting a tiled insert it is quite important you choose the tiles correctly as they are not that simple to change after the fireplace has been installed we carry a good selection of Tiles on our website to compliment the range of fireplaces we sell. They are of a standard size so will fit any original fireplace you have or even a reproduction fireplaces from another company.
They always come in sets of ten and have two panels of five each side depending on which tiles you have ordered some of them are left handed and right handed. Basically this means the flower patterns are slightly different and will point in towards the Cast.
Have a look at this photo it shows Jazz Burgundy Ivory Left Hand Panel

See how the top tile the flower points inwards on the right hand panel it would be the opposite way please bear this in mind when fitting them and we always recommend laying them down in the pattern they are to be fitted in.
Unless you are really sure of your colour scheme it’s good to go with something Neutral in Colour with a light Stone background this will then allow you to change room colours without the tiles looking at of place.
Most of all pick a design that you like than see what colour suits what you already have or intend to furnish the room with. Remember the tiles can be changed at a later date but the fireplace would have to be removed to do this but it can be done.

Our Range of Tiled Insert Fireplaces

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

We sell Gallery fireplaces on our website and the more traditional type of Victorian fireplace image when thinking of these is one of a Tiled Insert and some type of surround whether in Timber or Stone. What could be more of a period feature than a tiled fireplace and a marble surround? This design is still as popular as it ever has been and a good proportion of our fireplace packages sales are made up of tiled inserts.
In this Section we sell the fireplaces as individual items so you can just buy the Tiled insert without the tiles or back if you already have them. We supply Cast Iron Backs for these but they will sit in front of standard 16” clay Milner back because the sizes have not changed at all.
We do have a lot of customers buying a tiled fireplace on its own as they have hearths and existing surrounds they wish to use. We offer a good selection of tiles to compliment the insert you have chosen.
Most of the casts are a standard size of 37” x 37” which will fit surrounds with a 34” to 36” opening we do a few smaller ones for narrow openings too. We offer them in Black or Highlighted finishes so have a look through this section and see what you think of this type of reproduction period fireplace and pick a set of tiles to match your décor and there you have it the main focal feature for any traditional room setting.

Hearths and Fireplace Fascia Sections explained

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

In this article we will cover two of our smaller sections they are both individual fireplace items and the first one is
Fascias this section is called Fascias because that’s what they basically are they are designed to sit in front of the chimney breast opening and then fitted with a Fireplace surround to form an opening either suitable for a standard gas or electric fireplace or to in the case of the Shire Newton to form an opening for a fire basket. They do not have any cast back etc so can’t be used on there own without a fire or basket.
Hearths This section is where we keep all our individual hearth available on there own or with a panel so you can choose from a choice of Granite, Slate, Limestone and tiled with options in Gas or solid fuel use.
We also offer a made to measure service on all our item so please contact us regarding a price These items are very delicate and we always use our own delivery service to deliver these items as we have proper methods of transportation that keeps them upright to minimize damage.
As always at Cast Fireplaces we offer a huge range of items that other websites don’t sell on there own and we understand people sometimes do wish to change one item and not the whole fireplace that’s why we offer individual fireplace items.

Wooden fireplaces enjoy browsing the best range online

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

The best selection of Wooden Fireplace Packages is to be found on our website I have visited all other fireplace sites and I am 100% sure no body else offers a larger choice let alone offering the choice in finishes and size options. To top it all of we are the cheapest online too and offer the best service before and after your order. We currently offer over 70 different wooden packages offering tiled and arched inserts with a various array of timber surrounds in Oak, Pine and MDF. We are currently in the process of adding more fireplaces to our site so keep your eyes on these sections to see items that we are adding. We offer all these packages in gas, electric and solid fuel options and also they are available in a variety of finishes with Black, Highlighted and Full Polish.
All the Fireplace packages we sell come complete with everything you need and you don’t need to buy any separate items if the fireplace has tiles there included in the package and also if it needs a granite push in that’s also included in the price unlike some other websites.
I am sure if you are after a fireplace with a wooden surround you will be impressed by the range and choice we offer and if we don’t list the perfect fireplace package you are after just drop us an email or ring us and we can create the fireplace you have been after.

Whats in our Stone Fireplaces Section

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Stone Fireplace Packages is the most visited section on our website, this particular category is where we sell all our Fireplace packages with limestone or Jura stone surrounds with an array or arched and tiled inserts. This section seems to have grown enormously and now most of the popular fireplaces we sell have been photographed with 1 or more of our limestone surrounds creating what we believe to be the best range online.
The Limestone we supply is all 100% solid Natural Agean Limestone and is a white uniform colour with a little veining you will find some fossils in the limestone and sometimes slight colour variation but that is the beauty of a natural product that’s millions of years old. Every mantel is unique and all products are matched when machining to avoid colour change as much as possible (we have never has one returned yet in over 5 Years).
The packages we sell have been reduced in price when comparing to buying individual items to offer the discount package rate we have not compromised on any quality to do this and are the same items if you ordered them on there own we just do not supply inferior products to achieve price.
Click on the link above to take you to the section that is full of arched and tiled fireplaces with the largest range of stone surrounds or visit our Showrooms (appointment only) to see what we have on display and feel the product
I am sure you will not find Stone Packages cheaper in any shop with what ever fuel option you choose so have a look at one of our best selling stone suites below and treat yourself to a new Stone Fireplace Package.

Which hearth to use with my fireplace

Monday, June 8th, 2009

What Hearths are best for gas or solid fuel is often asked here at Castfireplaces and really it is down to preference as we do granite and tiled hearths for solid fuel and gas use. We do not recommend slate or limestone as slate is too soft and scratches very easily and limestone is too porous for the cement under fill as it seeps through to the top surface staining it so we don’t use either for solid fuel use.
Here we will explain what options you have.
Granite Gas Use – A single slab of granite around 20mm thick sits on 30mm risers making the total height 50mm its 15” in depth and is fine for use with gas and electric fires.
Granite Solid Fuel use – Granite sections form these hearths so the fireplace can expand and contract with the heat from solid fuel use they are filled underneath with a light weight cement mix to dissipate the heat throughout the hearth if this process was not carried out it would simply Crack down the middle they do have to cut and slabbed they are 18″ in depth so a little deeper than gas use.
Tiled Hearth Gas and Solid fuel – The tiled hearths are manufactured from 6”x 6” tiles available in various colours they are then set on a bench and filled underneath with lightweight mix and then grouted. The only difference between them is that they are 15” for gas Fireplace use and 18” for solid fuel use.
Slate and Limestone – Exact same manufacture process as granite hearth for gas use an same dimensions being 15” deep only suitable for gas use as explained
We Offer a full made to measure service for all our hearths so if you need any help or advice choosing a hearth just contact us.
