Fireplace Tiles for our Cast Iron Inserts

Monday, June 29th, 2009

When fitting a tiled insert it is quite important you choose the tiles correctly as they are not that simple to change after the fireplace has been installed we carry a good selection of Tiles on our website to compliment the range of fireplaces we sell. They are of a standard size so will fit any original fireplace you have or even a reproduction fireplaces from another company.
They always come in sets of ten and have two panels of five each side depending on which tiles you have ordered some of them are left handed and right handed. Basically this means the flower patterns are slightly different and will point in towards the Cast.
Have a look at this photo it shows Jazz Burgundy Ivory Left Hand Panel

See how the top tile the flower points inwards on the right hand panel it would be the opposite way please bear this in mind when fitting them and we always recommend laying them down in the pattern they are to be fitted in.
Unless you are really sure of your colour scheme it’s good to go with something Neutral in Colour with a light Stone background this will then allow you to change room colours without the tiles looking at of place.
Most of all pick a design that you like than see what colour suits what you already have or intend to furnish the room with. Remember the tiles can be changed at a later date but the fireplace would have to be removed to do this but it can be done.

Our Range of Tiled Insert Fireplaces

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

We sell Gallery fireplaces on our website and the more traditional type of Victorian fireplace image when thinking of these is one of a Tiled Insert and some type of surround whether in Timber or Stone. What could be more of a period feature than a tiled fireplace and a marble surround? This design is still as popular as it ever has been and a good proportion of our fireplace packages sales are made up of tiled inserts.
In this Section we sell the fireplaces as individual items so you can just buy the Tiled insert without the tiles or back if you already have them. We supply Cast Iron Backs for these but they will sit in front of standard 16” clay Milner back because the sizes have not changed at all.
We do have a lot of customers buying a tiled fireplace on its own as they have hearths and existing surrounds they wish to use. We offer a good selection of tiles to compliment the insert you have chosen.
Most of the casts are a standard size of 37” x 37” which will fit surrounds with a 34” to 36” opening we do a few smaller ones for narrow openings too. We offer them in Black or Highlighted finishes so have a look through this section and see what you think of this type of reproduction period fireplace and pick a set of tiles to match your décor and there you have it the main focal feature for any traditional room setting.

Malton Fireplace Packages are now Online

Monday, May 18th, 2009

The Malton Oak Veneered Victorian flat panel style surround has been added to our website today it’s available to buy online now in many different packages for gas or solid fuel use. This Oak Veneered Mantel will quickly become a good seller its made from MDF so its very stable and is designed on the popular Brompton Limestone. It is a great alternative to solid oak as with it being Veneered it really keeps the price down by around £200 at least so people who want the look of oak but without the price are sure to find this mantel a real winner. I personally think this surround looks best with a simple arched insert such as the Crown and Malton it really looks good and makes a perfect gas package with the Half polished cast iron insert.
Tiled Inserts have not been left out of our packages either and we also offer this versatile surround with a choice of tiled fireplaces such as the one shown in the photo below it shows the Toulouse Highlighted insert with the Tulip Burgundy / Ivory tiles I’m sure you will agree it makes a great package for Gas, Electric or even Solid fuel use. As with all our packages you can mix and match inserts hearths etc so if we don’t have on our website exactly what you are looking for give us a ring and we can create the perfect fireplace package for you.

Fireplace Tile fitting how is it done ?

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

How do we fit the tubeline fireplace tiles are always a question we get asked and whether the two metal strips are needed that comes with the Fireplace? STOP don’t throw them away they are the tile straps that along with the long thinner bolts and wing nuts they are needed to hold the tiles in place. We supply two different types of tiles with our fireplaces all in sets of tens such as our most popular selling set Tulip Burgundy / Ivory Tiles these tiles are supplied loose or on a fibre board depending on which Tiled Insert you have bought.
They are very simple to fit on a board and you just need to attach straps to the lugs at the back of the fireplace and slide tiles in from the top tighten up the wing nuts and the tiles are simply held in place by them don’t try to over tighten them otherwise you are liable to crack the top or bottom tile.
Loose tiles are slightly harder to fit we recommend lying them flat in pattern then turn them over and apply a few strips of gaffer tape again attach straps then slide them in again loosely tighten wing nuts till top and bottom tiles are secure pack centre tiles out with a little cardboard or filler then cement all the tiles in place from behind with a bonding plaster type adhesive make sure the pattern is straight as once it has set they wont be moved.Thats all there is to it simple as that. Picture shows Tulip Insert with Tulip Burgundy Ivory Tiles.

How do i fit my Fireplace Tiles

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

A common question we get asked from fitters and customers is how to fit the Fireplace Tiles in our casts, its very simple to do so don’t throw away the 2 metal straps that come attached to the fireplaces there not excess packaging or spares as we have had people do and there is two of them they are just taped up together. We supply two types of tiles depending on which cast you have ordered some are loose in a polystyrene box others are in a cardboard box attached to two heatproof fibre boards.

The loose tiles need removing carefully from the box and lining up as shown in the brochure or on our website please bear in mind sometimes with the likes of the Jazz Tubeline Tiles that there are left and right hand panels, turn the tiles over then put a few strips of gaffer tape on and then you can lift them in a single panel.

Attach the straps loosley to the fireplace with the wingnuts and bolts supplied slide the panels in from the side and then slowly tighten the wingnuts onto the washer to tighten the tiles to the cast. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN otherwise you will crack the top or bottom tile, pack the centre tiles out from behind so they finish flush with the fireplace, check from the front that they all line up then cement them in place from behind with Dri-Wall adhesive leave to set then the job is done.

For the boarded tiles thay are are already atached to fibre board so you dont have to tape them up slip them in place behind the straps and simply tighten up till they are flush with the cast, do not overtighten them again but make sure there tight enough not to move a good idea is a little bead of silicon on the straps so when its gone off there well and truly set in place. There you have it tiles simply attached inside the cast fireplace if you do nee any help or further advice just contact us
