Cast Fireplaces were incredibly helpful when we were initially making enquiries regarding our bespoke fire surround. The overall choice was so comprehensive and we eventually settled on oiled oak. The ordering process couldn't have been more straight forward & we were advised of production time at that stage. Everything went very smoothly and delivery was as they had predicted, although we did feel that the delivery charge was rather excessive. However, we are delighted with the finished product and it really has become the focal point in our room. We would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Cast Fireplaces for their excellent customer care and product.

I love this company. We just needed an oak surround, but I almost feel like fitting another fireplace just to use them again. Mark went out of his way to enable us to call in when passing through, so we could see e surrounds in the flesh. We could then easily order on line, including customising. They waited for us to get back from holiday before dispatching, communication was great, and delivery was spot-on. And we have saved a pile of cash.

Agean limestone finish explained

This Aegean limestone is off-white in colour with a slight gold fleck, smooth to the touch, but does have chips, flaws and marks in keeping with it being a natural product. These are not defects and are part of its unique feature. It’s a very popular choice with all our customers. After assembly and fitting it needs sanding and sealing as the stone is very porous. For assembly, we would suggest using a marble glue which you can purchase on our website.

Have your own style of limestone fire surround

The wonderful thing about the Aegean limestone mantels is that they are so versatile. You can have anything from minimal detail to columned legs, bullseye designs and ornate corbels. The choice is up to you and with 42-to-56-inch designs to pick from there is bound to be one that will fit your chimney breast.

The Brompton limestone fireplace comes in sizes from 42” to 60” and is by far the most popular choice. It simply looks stunning and is at the heart of many of our fireplace sets.

If used on a flat wall you will require a set of closure strips to remove the rebate as the mantels have a 3″ rebate (measurement G).

At Castfireplaces we have found LTP Mattstone sealer the perfect product.

If used around a stove or mounted on a flat wall, these strips of limestone are made to remove the rebate so there is no gap between the mantel and opening.

Most people with a competence in DIY should have no issues. There are normally four parts to each mantel.
