When customers come to us looking for a stove package, they quite often already know which stove they would like. The difficult part is everything that goes around it.
Will the stove fit the opening? Is the chamber suitable? Will the hearth work with it? Is the surround the right size for the chimney breast?
That is one of the main reasons we have put our stove packages together. Rather than expecting you to choose every individual component and work out whether they are all suitable, we have created combinations where the main parts of the fireplace have already been matched.
You can still make changes to many of them too. A customer will often tell us, “I like this package, but can I change the chamber?” or ask for a different hearth, beam colour or limestone or marble surround.

Always check the individual product page because the contents, sizes and available choices can differ from one package to another. The idea is to give you a complete starting point where the main components have already been considered together.
In my experience, the stove is usually the easiest part of the decision. A lot of customers have already seen a particular model they like before they start looking at the rest of the fireplace. You still need to think about heat output, the size of the room and whether you want a dedicated wood-burning or multi-fuel appliance, but visually it is often the chamber, hearth and surround that customers are less sure about.

The surround or beam has a big effect on how the finished fireplace looks. With our limestone and marble packages, one of the most common changes is the surround design itself. You may like the stove and chamber shown in a package but prefer a plainer or more detailed limestone or marble mantel.
Beam packages can often be changed too, particularly the beam colour or finish. A beam tends to create a simpler fireplace, while a full surround makes more of a feature of the stove and gives the whole fireplace a more defined shape.
One combination I particularly like is the Palmerston black surround with a black and white tiled hearth. The darker surround works really well with the patterned hearth and gives the whole fireplace plenty of character without making it overly complicated.
The chamber is another part customers regularly change. it sits directly behind the stove, so even though it occupies a relatively small area, it can make a surprisingly big difference to the finished fireplace.
Brick chambers tend to give you a more traditional look, while darker, smoother or more textured chambers can make the same stove package look completely different.
This is why I would not judge a package purely from the main photograph. If you like the stove, hearth and surround but would prefer another chamber, have a look at the available choices or ask us whether it can be changed — in many cases we can swap it while keeping the rest of the fireplace the same.
The hearth needs to work practically with the stove, but it is also a big part of the appearance of the fireplace. A straightforward granite or riven tile hearth keeps things fairly simple, whereas a coloured tiled hearth can add much more detail. The colour of the hearth also needs to work with the stove, chamber and surround rather than being chosen in isolation.
If you like a package but the hearth is the one part you would change, ask us. This is one of the common alterations we make when putting packages together for customers.
This is probably the biggest concern customers have. Most people are not unsure about whether they like the individual products. They are unsure whether those products will actually work together and fit into the space they have. That is exactly why we created the packages.
When we put a package together, we consider the stove size, fireplace opening, chamber, hearth and the proportions of the surround or beam.

In short, yes. Treat the package shown on the website as a starting combination rather than something you always have to copy exactly. The stove itself tends to stay fixed, since most customers already know which model they want, it’s usually the surround, beam, chamber or hearth that get swapped. These displays are useful because you can see the proportions, finishes and materials together and get a much better idea of how a complete package looks once installed.
There is no single combination that will work in every room. Some customers want something traditional with a limestone or marble surround and brick chamber. Others prefer a simple beam with a darker chamber and straightforward hearth. The important thing is that the different parts look balanced together and are suitable for the space you have available.
