Choosing a fireplace from photographs isn’t always easy.
One of the things we hear quite often from customers is: “I know I want a fireplace, I just can’t imagine what would suit my room.”
You might like a particular surround, stove or fireplace package, but it can still be difficult to picture how it will actually look at home.
That is why we introduced our free room visualisation service.
The idea is simple: send us a photograph of your room, some rough measurements and an idea of the type of fireplace you are considering, and we can show you how some of our products could look in your own space before you order.
Melissa runs the visualisation service and produces all of the room visuals for our customers. When you send us a room photograph, she uses your measurements and the products you are considering to put the visual together. Ideally, the photograph should be taken straight on and show the full wall where the fireplace is going.

The measurements don’t need to be surveyor-level accurate. They simply help us get the scale and proportions looking sensible in the visual.
This is an important part of the service. Every fireplace, surround, stove, hearth, chamber, beam or fire shown in one of our visuals is based on a product that we actually sell. We don’t create a fireplace that looks good in the picture and then tell you it isn’t available.
If you like what you see, we can then work out the price based on the actual products used in the visual.
The first visual doesn’t have to be the final choice. Quite often a customer likes the main fireplace but wants to see what it would look like with a different beam, chamber, hearth or another part of the design changed. We can make those changes so you can compare the options before deciding. Sometimes changing one relatively small detail makes a surprisingly big difference to the finished fireplace.
Looking at a fireplace on a white background or in somebody else’s room only tells you so much. Putting it into a photograph of your own room makes it much easier to judge the size of the surround, the colour of the stone, the proportions of the stove and how the complete fireplace works with the rest of the room. It can also help when you are trying to decide between different mantel sizes, finishes or fireplace combinations.
The main aim is to give you a much clearer idea of the overall look before you spend money on the fireplace.
Once you are happy with the combination, we can price the fireplace up piece by piece. That means the price is based on the actual surround, stove, hearth, chamber, beam or other products included in your chosen design. You aren’t committed to buying anything simply because we have created a visual. We have already had numerous customers go on to buy fireplaces after using the service.
We are also starting to build up examples showing the original room, the visual we created and the finished fireplace once it has been installed.

Each visual takes time to put together, but we’ve decided to continue offering the service for free because we think it makes choosing a fireplace much easier.
The visuals are there to help with appearance, scale and ideas rather than act as technical drawings. We use the measurements you provide to make the fireplace look as realistic and proportionate as possible. There can also be slight differences in colour, natural stone markings and proportions when products are seen in person.
