A sad day at Casfireplaces. On 11/08/2025, we sold our last Tiger. This was our ex-display Tiger Eco model.
All these stoves were designed by Glynn Hughes (sadly deceased), and distributed and manufactured by the Gallery fireplaces group.
It holds such a fondness for me personally, as this was the first stove we sold here when we started Castfireplaces in 2003, and we have a fantastic nostalgic story I’d love to share.
Back in Dec 2003 we sold a Tiger stove to a local couple. Nothing out of the ordinary until 21 years later. It turns out my son, who is now 20 was visiting his girlfriend’s grandma and he rang me asking if we could sort out her stove door. He sent me some images of the stove door where the bolts had rusted away. I said we could repair it for the coming winter or order a new door. A repair was made and new glass fitted.
She then told him the tale of visiting a farm in Heage to collect this stove and I knew instantly she had purchased it from us. He texted me the original invoice, and it was such an early invoice of ours that I was amazed that I had not seen one of these for years.
Cutting a lovely tale a little shorter, we now have this old Tiger on display in our Heanor showroom along with all the original invoice and paperwork. I was telling this tale to Tony at our suppliers, and he had ordered me from the China foundry a new “Old Tiger Classic”. So to match the battle-scarred original one, we have a brand new, last off the line Tiger stove. It’s not for sale, it’s of great sentiment regarding what Castfireplaces is and how it was founded.
So a little nostalgia there. I think it’s important to remember things like this, and nearly 45,000 sales later and counting, it’s our most memorable for all these reasons.
So long live the Tiger Stove. It may not be sold any longer, but it lives on with us here.
