The 48″ Palmerston Gallery Fireplaces Mantel is a stunning example of a cast iron surround. Available in either full polish for a modern take on a traditional surround or in full black for a period feel, it works fantastically well with cast iron inserts but also makes a surprising style statement with stoves and some of our more modern fires.
Rebate Frame Option
Our surrounds come with a standard 75mm rebate, designed for use with arched inserts, cast iron fireplaces, or tiled inserts etc.
If you plan to install the mantel against a flat wall (without an insert or chamber), please choose the Rebate Frame option. This includes a black infill frame that neatly fills the rebate, ensuring the surround sits flush to the wall and prevents any visible gap between the inner legs and the wall surface.
IMPORTANT: *Image 2 illustrates an alternative method, where a fire board is brought forward to meet the back of the surround legs, effectively filling the 75mm gap. This approach can be used instead of selecting a rebate frame.
